OUR STORY
A century of hospitality
For over 100 years, the Imperial Hotel has stood at the gateway to Paddington: a place where locals gather, visitors feel at home, and classic Australian pub culture thrives.
Built on a long tradition of genuine hospitality, the Imperial has always been more than just a hotel; it’s a meeting place rich with stories, characters and community spirit.

Among the many stories woven into the Imperial’s history, none is more meaningful to us than that of Edmund Resch. A pioneer of Australian brewing, his dedication to quality and craftsmanship laid the foundation for a family tradition that continues today.
When we introduced our microbrewery and distillery to the Imperial, the Resch legacy became part of the fabric of the pub itself. Every fresh brew and every hand-crafted spirit made on site connects our present to Edmund’s enduring passion, carrying his heritage forward in a new, modern way, in a much smaller-scale.

Where the Resch legacy meets the Imperial
A true Paddington local
Situated in the heart of Paddo, just moments from the bustle of Oxford Street and the energy of Allianz Stadium, the Imperial remains a proud part of the neighbourhood’s story.
We’re a place where friendships form, where regulars gather, and where visitors discover a genuine slice of Sydney life.

Our story is still being written
Whether you’re sharing a drink, enjoying a meal or experiencing a taste of our brewery and distillery, you’re joining a tradition shaped by family, community and craftsmanship.
We’re proud to welcome you into our story — and we hope you’ll make a few of your own while you’re here.
